Accelerated globalization of the last century brought hopes of an increasingly prosperous and close-knit world. But recent upsurge of populism – from Brexit to Donald Trump’s presidency - followed by the devastating Covid-19 pandemic have raised serious question about reversal of globalization. The course will examine the historical process of growing global connections and economic integration and negative consequences it has brought. We will assess the impact of populism and rising nationalism on the sustainability of globalization.
