This is a 100 level course that introduces students to human-wildlife conflict through reading two papers per week. The first reading of the week will be a generalized understanding of an aspect of conflict (from the way an animal moves through a landscape to the way people perceive the animal) while the second reading of the week will be a case study.
Students will discuss the papers during class and upload comments on papers on a group chat (forum to be decided).
NOTE: This class focusses on conflict outside protected areas when animals move through human-dominated systems. For a class on conflicts associated with land for conservation, do take Prof Divya Karnad's Wildlife Conservation.
