Shifting Power Balance in Asia and the Rise of China: A view from the front row

Among the most striking features of modern Asia has been the rapid emergence of China and the reversal of alliances. This course will offer a history of international relations in East Asia since the end of World War II to the present. The course will focus on the changing relationships between China and its Asian neighbors against the backdrop of China’s rising power. Nayan Chanda, who has witnessed the development in Asia for over four decades as a reporter and editor of the Far Eastern Economic Review, offers an analytical narrative of the power shift in the region from a personal perspective.
