Theoretical Ecology

This course does 3 things: 1. Derives basic equations in Ecology and Evolution, 2.  Reads classic papers proposing those equations and discusses how to change them and 3. Models equations to derive specific hypotheses for testing.

Course is R heavy and requires familiarity with coding.

Familiarity with Ecology and Evolutionary Biology strongly recommended.

At the end of the course, you should be able to model/simulate a system of your choice.

Equations covered include physiology, population dynamics, community dynamics, population genetics, disease dynamics, parasitism, and if sufficient student interest, spatially-explicit landscape ecology. Syllabus to be posted later.
