SUMMARY:Biology Colloquium | Antony Merlin Jose
DESCRIPTION:  \nHeredity relies on genome sequence and on regulators assembled at the start of each generation. The diverse regulatory molecules and their arrangements can be parsed into entities\, their sensors\, and the sensed properties to analyze the heritable information in regulatory networks. I will share details of this new framework for heredity\, experiments using the nematode C. elegans that necessitate this view\, and early thoughts on analyzing the heritable regulatory network driving the lac operon. \n

SUMMARY:Saturday Fun Night – Drag Raga: Perform To Inform
DESCRIPTION:Hello! \nHave Saturday nights become boring during WFH? \nTo celebrate Pride Month\, we bring to you an unique experience this Saturday (26 Jun) @ 7 pm. \nWondering what it could be? \nYou guessed it right. We would be joined by two DRAG performers who besides demonstrating their art form would also conduct an informative session. \nAbout our DRAG Performers: \nPatruni Chidananda Sastry is a Classical Dancer\, Intrapreneur and Customer Service Expert. He is the co-founder of Dragvanti\, an online website for the DRAG community in India. Patruni started dancing at the age of 7. Patruni has created a new style of poetry reciting and storytelling. He has worked on a unique style of dance called “Expressionism” – a new way to tell stories of awareness to the society. He contributes his attributes of dance with many organizations like Mobbera Foundation\, Mental Health Organization\, Good Universe\, Mist\, Namma Pride\, Human Library and the Humsafar Trust. He has also been part of many dance festivals including Golden Beach Festival\, Kalpashree dance festival and so on. Patruni also used his skill to bring in visualization to complex numerical and conceptual subjects and processed a new way to represent data. \nPatruni has also been performing Tranimal Drag under the drag name of Suffocated Art Specimen (S.A.S). His style for drag brings unique footprints of anti art queen. Tranimal Drag Art has been given a new Indianian approach with his style. With S.A.S \, he has presented multiple performances at spaces like Hyderabad Lit Festival\, Kitty Su and Kitty Ko. He has also been listed as a top performer in Pink News. \nSaransh Sugandh likes to play with Avatars. He is a filmmaker\, researcher and performer who has been invested in ideas of Sustainability\, Climate Change\, Gender and Mental Health for a while. The queer-stage artist in him had been aching to get under the spotlight and so was born\, Avatari Devi in 2019. Avatari works at reimagining Launda Naach(a folk-theatre form where men and boys dress as women; the theatre form is from their native state of Bihar) in our Desi-aspiring-Videsi context (a culture that is in love with western aspirations)\, flirting with Angrezi (English)\, Bhojpuri-laced Hindi and of course- men\, women and everyone in between. Some political hues are more azeez (dear) to her. Others become fodder for some lazeez(delicious) humour. They have a keen interest in documenting and working on indigenous knowledge traditions\, embedded and lived knowledge in a participatory manner. To this end\, they have designed and executed workshops with various student communities in rural and urban settings and have also curated a visual arts exhibition on the subject of bio-cultural heritage and visual media (2019\, Pune) to some great reviews.
