SUMMARY:Mathematics Colloquium | Arindam Biswas
DESCRIPTION:Abstract:  The discrete Cheeger inequality is a well-known inequality in spectral graph theory\, which relates the second largest eigenvalue of the adjacency operator to the Cheeger constant. In this talk\, we shall discuss recent results on lower Cheeger inequalities involving the smallest eigenvalue\, for certain classes of algebraic graphs. \n  \nAbout the Speaker:  Arindam Biswas is a postdoc in the section for Algebra & Geometry\, working with the GeoTop Centre. Arindam has a Diplôme d'Ingénieur (cycle polytechnicien) from the École Polytechnique\, Paris and a dual degree (M2) in Mathematics from the University of Paris. He then obtained a Ph.D. from the Université Paris-Saclay (Orsay) under the direction of Emmanuel Breuillard. \nBefore coming to Copenhagen\, Arindam was a postdoc at the Technion\, Israel. His research interests include combinatorial group theory\, additive number theory\, spectral graph theory\, and expanders\, with applications to related aspects of computer science.
