SUMMARY:Functional molecules for solid state opto electronic applications
DESCRIPTION:Abstract: Recent advances in molecular electronics reveal that not only metallic but transparent conductive oxides can also be fruitful for optoelectronic device fabrication. Functional molecules such as aryl diazonium can easily be electrochemically grafted on ITO electrodes with the desired thickness and composition I will discuss an electrochemical method appropriate for growing homo to heterostructures molecular thin films for current voltage applications Electrical impedance spectroscopy was employed to deduce individual circuit elements followed by circuit modeling and validation. \nNext\, I will talk about how chirality can be imprinted into achiral Ag NPs for optoelectronic applications. In this study we employed chiral inducers L/D-cysteine to transfer the chirality followed by detailed structural and morphology characterization Chiroptical properties of such chiral nanomaterial assemblies were studied by CD spectroscopy by varying concentrations of chiral ligands.\nIn the last part I will discuss molecular electrochromic devices which are composed of viologen\nanthracene The present work demonstrated the fabrication of “all organic” electrochromic devices on rigid to flexible substrates that can undergo fast coloration and bleaching properties and with an as high coloration efficiency as ⁓484 cm2/C which can be considered one of the best performing molecular electrochromic devices. These devices show three state color switching and are fabricated on a large scale area of 50 mm × 50 mm ensuring the flexibility\, and scalability of the devices. \n  \nSpeaker's Bio: Dr. Prakash Chandra Mondal is currently an Assistant Professor at the Department of Chemistry\, IIT Kanpur. He obtained Ph.D. from the University of Delhi in 2013. He was a post-doctoral fellow at Weizmann Institute of Science\, Israel (2013-2016)\, then moved to the University of Alberta\, Canada. Prior to joining IIT Kanpur\, he was a Marie-Curie post-doctoral Fellow at the University of Valencia\, Spain. Dr. Mondal is the author of many international journals of repute including J. Am. Chem. Soc\, ACS NANO\, Adv. Mater.\, Nano Lett.\, Adv. Funct. Mater.\, Acc. Chem. Res.\, Angew. Chem.\, to mention a few. He has been serving as an Editorial Board Member\, since 2021. The research team led by Dr. Mondal has been devoted to preparation of chiral and magnetic nanomaterials\, molecular electrochromism\, surface chemistry\, molecular electronics\, and spintronics.
