SUMMARY:Workshop on Writing Museum-labels and Museum/ Exhibition Cataloguing
DESCRIPTION:The workshop will cover the basics of writing object labels and preparing catalogues for museums and exhibitions. It will engage with the discourse on museum labels within India and around the globe\, provenance studies\, and whether museum labels can be considered as 'objective truths' or 'politically correct'. These questions are relevant to the disciplines of history\, art history\, archaeology\, museology\, visual studies\, heritage studies\, and  many trans-disciplinary fields.

SUMMARY:How do you make a protein beat\, bite\, and get beaten up?
DESCRIPTION:Abstract:  \nIndividual human cells are densely populated with millions of protein molecules. Each of them is born with a cause and dies for a reason. Importantly\, such a protein societal network is tightly regulated at multiple and molecular levels. Some control other fellow proteins\, some regulate another biomolecule and some self-control. Such interactions happen through precise recognition of each other through molecular interactions. We try to understand how tagging proteins with absolutely new recognition domains interplays in their interactome network and functionality. \n  \nBiography: \nBasudeb Maji is an Assistant Professor of Biology at Trivedi School of Biosciences\, Ashoka University. He is also an adjunct faculty at the Department of Chemistry. Basudeb earned his Ph.D. from the Indian Institute of Science\, Bengaluru and subsequently moved to Harvard Medical School and MIT to pursue his postdoctoral research. His research group works on Synthetic Biology and Chemogenetics platform to address various genetic and infectious diseases. His work primarily involves protein engineering and chemical biology methods to understand the cellular mechanism underlying various genetic diseases. His team focuses on translational research like gene therapy\, chemopreventive development\, and molecular diagnostics.

DESCRIPTION:Department of Visual Arts welcomes you  to a colloquium with contemporary artists \nThukral & Tagra. \nFriday\, 30th September\, 2022 \n5pm – 6:30pm \nVenue: AC04 – 302 (LR) \n\nBased in Gurgaon\, Jiten Thukral and  Sumir Tagra (also known as T & T) work collaboratively with a wide range of media including painting\, sculpture\, installations\, interactive games\, video\, performance\, and design. Thukral & Tagra work on new formats of public engagement and attempt to expand the scope of what art can do; further emphasizing what the practice can do in a virtual context through their archives and publications. They break out of the mediated-disciplinary world\, creating multi-modal storytelling in immersive environments.\nThukral & Tagra will present instances from two decades of their practice\, concerns\, and collective/duo collaborations that range from paintings to using Artificial Intelligence. They will present their artistic relationship with technological change\,  referring to interactive games and recent ventures with NFTs.  \nAbout Thukral & Tagra\nThukral and Tagra have been recipients of several residencies\, allowing them to further cultivate their artistic practice – most recently in 2018\, the ccSPORTcamp\, Progr. From 2012 to 2016 they were residents at Meissen Porcelain and at Edition Copenhagen in 2012. They were the STPI residents of 2009. Thukral and Tagra have had several notable collaborations and commissions over the years. They have worked with companies like Apple\, Absolut\, and Conde Nast; events like the JCB Literature Prize\, Dharamsala Film Festival\, and Design Days Dubai. Thukral and Tagra have collaborated with artists like Mario Testino and David Adjaye Team. \nFor complete exhibition history and projects\, please visit their site\, thukralandtagra.com
