The five year journey has enabled a collective 'moving the needle' on how smallholder producers might engage with markets and in this process allowed for a unique position through which to engage with larger systems such as the state\, market and society. This talk draws on the Black Baza experience to engage with questions of community-based biodiversity conservation\, sustainability\, and the future of the Western Ghats. \n
