SUMMARY:New ideas in molecular evolution (NEMO)
DESCRIPTION:The evolution and divergence of molecules is closely linked with the evolution of populations. A holistic understanding of any biological process requires probing at both the mechanistic (molecular) and the evolutionary level. Traditionally\, the two were seen as very different disciplines\, and the subsequent lack of intermingling diminished scientific understanding. While the divide has lessened in the west\, in India there are still very few researchers who combine expertise in molecular biology with evolutionary ideas and concepts in their work\, but their number is rapidly increasing. In this two-day event\, we bring together more than ten young scientists from India who explore both molecular and evolutionary biology. The expert talks will be accompanied by poster sessions by students. We hope to start building a molecular evolution community in India through this meeting. \nDates: 26th and 27th of December 2022 \nVenue: Ashoka University\, Sonipat \nContact: \n laasya.samhita@ashoka.edu.in & shraddha.karve@ashoka.edu.in\nPlease register before 15th of November \n \n26th of December  \n9.00 am to 9.40 am: Krishna Swamy\, Ahmedabad University \n9.45 am to 10.25 am: Shraddha Karve\, Ashoka University \nTea break \n11.00 am to 11.40 am: Vijay Jayaraman\, Ahmedabad University \n12 noon to 12.40  pm: Laasya Samhita\, Ashoka University \nLunch break \n3.00 pm to 3.40 pm: T.
