SUMMARY:Evolving Library Eco-system in the AI/Machine Learning Landscape | Library Technology Conclave
DESCRIPTION:Theme: Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning (AI/ML) in Libraries\n\n\n\n\n\n\nIn this “digital first” and “library-as-a-platform” era\, libraries of any type or size across the globe have one element in common—their technocentric nature. The focal points of library technology change dynamically almost every three years. In today’s hyper-connected digital environment\, libraries are increasingly realizing that the combinations of data science\, artificial intelligence (AI)\, and machine learning (ML) have all the potential to influence fundamentally the workflows in libraries. For example\, the applications of AI/ML in organizing and providing need-based access to digitized collections are ample in terms of value\, volume\, and variety and are prospective. Developments in AI/ML will have significant impact in knowledge organization\, making knowledge discovery and delivery process more intuitive\, intelligent\, and personalized to users. User’s engagement with library being cognitive in nature\, no functional and service areas in libraries will be left untouched by AI/ML applications in Libraries. But unlike other technologies in the library sphere\, AI/ML technologies\, as predicted by domain experts\, involve an existential threat and\, therefore\, need to be adapted with great care to ensure that we don’t summon the demon. \nThe Library Technology Conclave (LTC2023)\, to be held during 15-17th February 2023\, at the Ashoka University\, Delhi-NCR\, Sonipat\, aims to deliberate in depth on the aspects and prospects of AI/ML applications in libraries through a series of keynote addresses by global domain experts\, panel discussions on relevant topics\, two hands-on workshops on core topics\, and unique\, newly added experiential sessions. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nCONCLAVE TOPICS\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAI/ML Applications in:\n\nInformation Retrieval and Discovery Platforms\nHybrid Library Management Platforms\nText mining\, Auto Classification & Indexing\nPlagiarism Checking Tools\nContext based Citation Analytics\nReference Service\nRobotic Applications in Library Management\n\nDate: 15 – 17 February 2023 \nFor more information: www.ltc2023.orghttps://www.ltc2023.org/registration-and-accommodation/

SUMMARY:A General Photo-luminescent Sensor Platform For Specific Enzymes\, Drugs And Small Molecules
DESCRIPTION:Abstract: About a decade ago\, we discovered a facile method to enhance the luminescence from lanthanides through the self-assembly of multiple components in a metallohydrogel. Using this strategy\, we have developed a pro-sensitizer (‘masked sensitizer’) based protocol for sensing enzymes and bio-relevant small molecules. We have also discovered that several natural products and clinically used drugs can sensitize lanthanides. The gel-based platform\, therefore\, provides opportunities to detect and quantify such species as well. \nThe advantage of this technique is that the output (green/red photoluminescence of Tb3+/Eu3+) is independent of the analyte being sensed\, and in many cases pre-processing of the sample is not required. For several enzymes present in blood serum and natural product extracts\, the presence of the analyte can be readily inferred using an inexpensive\, hand-held long-wave UV lamp. We have also developed a low-cost\, paper-based method\, and a portable device to simplify the assay and believe that further developments can lead to useful\, real-life applications. \nReferences \n1.             Dutta\, A.; Maitra\, U. SUMMARY:The Series
DESCRIPTION:About the Speaker: Rahul Bose has excelled in the three fields he inhabits – cinema\, rugby and non-profit.  \nDescribed as the ‘Indian art house icon’\, by TIME magazine\, Rahul won the Filmfare Award 2021 for his performance in the Netflix series\, ‘Bulbbul’. This past year he has worked in five films and a major series\, to be released in theatres and on streaming platforms from March 2023 onwards. A former international rugby player\, Rahul represented India for eleven years\, retiring from the Indian team in 2009. He is the President of the Indian Rugby Football Union (Rugby India) as well as on the Executive Committee of the Asia Rugby Football Union. Formed in 2006\, his NGO\, ‘The Foundation’\, works with children from under served areas of India\, and his second NGO\, HEAL\, works on the prevention of child sexual abuse. In 2009 he was voted the Indian Youth Icon of the Year – Social Justice and in 2010\, the Green Globe award for his work on climate change. \n  \nAbout The Series: "Living the dream" is a common phrase we all wish we could apply to our lives. All of us strive to achieve our dreams\, but until we get there we continue to wonder what it is like to do what we love and succeed at it. Hearing stories from such individuals is often enough motivation to keep on the path to our dreams. The Series is an endeavour where one will bear witness to the stories and experiences of individuals who had the good fortune of excelling at their passions. Having lived their dreams\, the stories may just nudge you toward the path to yours.
