SUMMARY:Cognitive Science Seminar Series
DESCRIPTION:Zoom Link: https://zoom.us/j/92222974773?pwd=C5Cs1TXDja2dj90RayRaP1P2353I7G.1 \nAbstract: Sense of agency (SoA) is the subjective feeling of having control over one's actions and their outcomes. I will begin my talk with an introduction to the concept of SoA and highlight its relevance to neurological and psychiatric disorders. Following this\, I will discuss the distinction between the predictive and retrospective components of SoA. Next\, I will describe the famous Libet’s clock experiment and introduce ‘intentional binding’ as an implicit measure of SoA. I will then present an EEG study conducted in my lab\, aimed at identifying distinct oscillatory patterns associated with each of the components of SoA. \nAbout the Speaker: \nDr. Nivethida Thirugnanasambandam \n(Asst. Prof.\, Dept. of Biosciences and Bioengineering\, IIT\, Bombay): \nhttps://www.bio.iitb.ac.in/people/faculty/nivethida-t/ \n
