SUMMARY:Workshop: Portfolio Construction for an Impact Fund
DESCRIPTION:  \nAbout the Workshop: Rachana will be delivering an interactive workshop on how to develop an impact-focused portfolio. Teams will be given a selection of investments with the goal of constructing a balanced portfolio across geography\, product\, ticket size\, duration\, development impact indicators\, and of course returns. \nAll those who register will be given a case study which they can go through before the session.\n  \nRachana Ramchand is an impact investing professional with over a decade of experience in international development\, venture capital & private equity\, entrepreneurship\, and technology.  \nRachana's impact investing journey began at Asha Impact\, a pioneering social venture capital firm\, where she played a pivotal role as the first employee. After her MBA at INSEAD\, Rachana then transitioned to the UK government's development finance institution\, British International Investment (BII). During her three-year tenure with the Catalyst and SME Funds team\, she played a key role in investing in intermediaries\, funds\, and co-investments across South Asia and Africa. Since 2022\, Rachana has been an Investment Manager in the CIO's Office. In this role\, she spearheads BII's co-investment program while also managing the organisation's investment processes and decision-making.\n  \nRegister here – https://forms.gle/NS9oE9qQLKqy4pTB8 \nWhy Attend this session? \n\nLearn from an Expert: Gain insights from Rachana Ramchand\, a seasoned professional in impact investing and international development.\nHands-On Portfolio Building: Develop a balanced\, impact-focused investment portfolio across geography\, product\, and returns.\nReal-World Experience: Get practical skills in creating portfolios that drive both financial returns and social impact.\n\n\nSee you there!

SUMMARY:Unveiling Biological Mysteries: Enhancing Research with Electron Microscopy - Zeiss Bio EM Workshop
DESCRIPTION:In the pursuit of deeper biological insights\, imaging technologies like electron microscopy (EM) and X-ray microscopy (XRM) play pivotal roles. This workshop introduces the powerful synergy of these techniques and their impact on life sciences. EM-based approaches\, including focused ion beam (FIB-SEM)\, serial block-face SEM (SBF-SEM)\, and array tomography\, push past traditional imaging constraints. These advanced volume EM methods reveal intricate cellular architectures in nanometer resolution within a larger 3D context\, enabling scientists to explore ultrastructural details with unprecedented clarity. Notably\, SBF-SEM integrates an ultramicrotome within the SEM chamber\, creating 15–30 nm thick sections for capturing high-resolution\, 3D data of cellular structures. \nThis session will showcase practical applications\, emphasizing how these imaging technologies drive advancements in life sciences and  explore integrated software solutions for image processing to further streamline and enrich data analysis.

SUMMARY:Reclining on Histories
DESCRIPTION:Department of Visual Arts and \nthe students from Figure Drawing as Remembering and Reimagining [VA-2016] \ninvite you to \nReclining on Histories \nJoin us on Friday\, 29th November 2024\, 4:00 pm onwards at AC 02 008 \nfeaturing works from  \nAnushka Singh\, Jessica Joseph\, Rithul Anand and Trisha Bhargav \nReclining on Histories examines the female body as a site of flux\, rest\, and reimagination. The exhibition explores the duality of 'rest'—as pause and as residue—reflecting on the body’s historical denial of rest and its role in shaping ideals and art canons.  By reinterpreting figures from Indian art history and the Renaissance\, the works engage with inherited artistic legacies while forging new paths\, inviting viewers to reflect on rest\, resistance\, and the dynamic interplay between stillness and transformation. The artworks\, in their own right\, challenge us to question whose histories we rest upon and how we might reimagine them for the future! \n  \nWe look forward to seeing you there!  \nDepartment of Visual Arts \nAshoka University
