SUMMARY:Conclave 3.0
DESCRIPTION:What began as a small discussion in 2023 has evolved into an annual\, growing movement: a conference hosted by the Office of Learning Support (OLS) at Ashoka University\, dedicated to fostering dialogue and action on inclusive higher education in India. Conclave 2.0 (2024) focused on “Building Foundations for Inclusive Higher Education.” The year that followed saw the creation of Idea Lab Groups—collaborative working teams composed of Conclave participants focused on inclusive higher education at both the practice and policy levels. \nThis year\, Conclave 3.0 aims to take a step forward in advancing a national network and launching an open-source database that institutions across the country can use to design and strengthen their own inclusive practices.\n  \nThe Conclave will: \n\nShare outcomes from the Idea Lab groups\nServe as a space to connect with and join Inclusive University Alliance (IUA) – a national network of Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) and allied organisations committed to advancing inclusive education\nUnveil the open-source database developed through the Idea Labs initiative \nOpen space for dialogue on emerging and underexplored issues in the inclusion landscape\n	 \n\nKey Themes at Conclave 3.0  \n\nSharing Learnings: Presentation of the database created through Idea Labs and the IUA network membership model\nPolicy Advocacy: Discussion of a collaboratively developed advocacy note aimed at influencing government policy on inclusive higher education\nFaculty Perspectives: Insights from faculty members who champion inclusive pedagogy – sharing classroom strategies\, tips\, and real-world practices\nAssistive Technology (AT) Integration: A step-by-step guide for institutions to assess\, plan\, and implement AT support for students with disabilities\nInclusive Campus Placement: Approaches and best practices for making campus recruitment processes accessible and supportive for students with disabilities

SUMMARY:CS Seminar: Introduction to Process Synchronization
DESCRIPTION:Abstract: Modern operating systems and hardware support multi-tasking. This talk provides a basic introduction to processes and process synchronization\, which play a crucial role in systems involving cooperating processes. It begins with the fundamental concepts of the producer-consumer problem and discusses potential issues in its implementation. The talk then introduces the concept of the critical section and the essential properties it must satisfy. \nThis session serves as an introductory overview of process synchronization for students in an operating systems course. \nAbout the Speaker: Dr. Sandesh Kamath is a Post Doctoral Researcher in the LAMP group led by Dr. Joost van de Weijer at Computer Vision Center(CVC) in Universitat Autonoma de Barcelona(UAB)\, Spain. Previously\, he was a Microsoft Research Post Doctoral Fellow in Indian Institute of Technology(IIT)\, Hyderabad working with Prof. Vineeth N Balasubramanian. He holds a PhD from Chennai Mathematical Institute(CMI)\, Chennai\, advised by Prof. K V Subramanyam and Dr. Amit Deshpande\, Microsoft Research India and MTech from Indian Institute of Technology(IIT)\, Delhi\, both in Computer Science. His research has been published in top-tier conferences\, including NeurIPS\, AAAI\, and CVPR. He received the Best Paper Award (Research track) at the ACM CODS-COMAD 2022 conference and was recognized as an Outstanding Reviewer at the BMVC conference in 2024. With four years of industrial experience\, he has worked in Electronic Design Automation (EDA) and Online Education. His current research focuses on Machine Learning (Deep Learning)\, with interests in Adversarial Robustness\, Explainable AI\, Continual Learning\, and Generative AI.
