Course on Women, Business and Rights

The Genpact Centre for Women’s Leadership (GCWL), in collaboration with the Institute for Human Rights and Business (IHRB) and Gender at Work, is facilitating a week-long certificate course that aims to introduce participants to the linkages between women, business, and human rights. The course, a blend of theory and practical guidance, will equip participants with the skills to develop strategies and assess business operations that are consistent with international standards on women‘s rights. The Course sessions will be facilitated by experienced and eminent professionals from the field of women’s rights, human rights, human resources, gender equality, corporate & consumer banking, journalists among others. Some of the speakers will be Paula Mariwala, Founder & Co-president, Stanford Angels & Entrepreneurs India, Shanti Ekambaram, President, Consumer Banking, Kotak Mahindra, Ammu Joseph, Independent Journalist, and Salil Tripathi, Senior Advisor, Global Issues, Institute of Human Rights & Business.
The course will enable participants to analyse companies’ internal policies including human resource policies to ensure that women are not discriminated against at their workplace. These policies also need to ensure a safe and enabling work environment that fosters gender equality and women’s leadership. The focus will be on providing participants with theoretical knowledge and practical guidance on how to develop strategies and assess business operations that are consistent with international standards on human rights.
