CWC Event: A Workshop On Writing For The Screen (with filmmaker Mukul Haloi)

This short introductory workshop aims at familiarizing students with the basic principles of screen/scriptwriting. With interactive and practice oriented methods, the workshop will analyse the basic differences between literary writing and scriptwriting, practice of writing through image and sound, script structures and evolution of film writing through different cinema movements.
Bio: Mukul Haloi is an Indian filmmaker. He is a Political Science graduate from University of Delhi, and studied Film Direction and Screenplay Writing at FTII. He is an alumnus of Berlinale Talents & Vision Splendid Filmmaking Program, Griffith University & TISS Early Career Fellowship & CCF Film Fellowship. His short films Days of Autumn & A Letter to Home received 5 awards including Best Film at IDSFFK and Signs, Kerala. His feature documentary Tales from Our Childhood won Bala Kailasam Award, was shown at festivals like Yamagata, Sibiu and Mumbai, is included in Modern Indian Studies, Gottingen University & in Reel India-a book by Namrata Joshi & an upcoming anthology on documentaries (Bloomsbury). Currently, He teaches filmmaking, writing and recording nonhuman and human lives in his village.
