Abstract: The talk will seek to understand the conflict in and over Kashmir historically and use various lenses to disinter the problem. It will argue that any resolution of and over Kashmir will require an assemblage of approaches given the complexity of the conflict.

Bio: Prof Amitabh Mattoo is Professor at CIPOD, School of International Studies, JNU and Professor at the Faculty of Arts, University of Melbourne. He was Advisor with a Cabinet rank to the chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir and has headed the State Knowledge Initiative. He has been a member of the National Security Advisory Board, the National Knowledge Commission, and is also Chairperson of Miranda House College. A D.Phil in IR from the University of Oxford, he has been awarded the Padma Shri for his contributions to public life.
