Financial Aid and Scholarships

No student has ever been turned
down due to financial constraints.

Till now, Ashoka University has helped 1,221 students achieve their dream by availing scholarships from the institution. 

 

The University is committed to making a world-class education affordable for students from all walks of life. At present, more than 50 percent of our students are under some form of scholarship in both the undergraduate and postgraduate programmes.

 

 

While selection to Ashoka is based on merit, including academic and extracurricular achievement, scholarships are entirely based upon need. A student who has earned admission to the University will not be turned away if they are not able to pay tuition.Students who require financial aid must submit their parents’ income tax returns, details on gross annual income of all earning members in the family, their assets, and also the number of dependents when filling out their application.

 

While filling the Application Form, under the section Financial Aid, just select ‘YES’ if you want to apply for financial assistance.Once you are shortlisted for admission at Ashoka University, you will be requested by the Admissions and Financial Aid Team to furnish the following documents prior to your interview process:

  1. Last 3 years ITRs for your parents/earning members of the family.

  2. School Fee Receipt(s) for the entire year of your Grade XII.

  3. Bank Account Statement for the last 12 months of all earning members of the family.

  4. Details of Family Financial Asset(s) (movable and immovable property, investments, etc)

  5. Company ITRs and Bank Statements (for Business families)

Will my request for financial aid affect my admission to Ashoka?

While selection to Ashoka is based on the candidates’ merit, financial aid is entirely based upon need. Once a candidate receives an offer of admission, Ashoka University is committed to making its education affordable for its students based on their ability to pay.

 

Do you offer financial aid for international students?

Yes, we do offer financial aid for international students.

 

How many students are on financial aid?

At present, more than 50 per cent of our students in the undergraduate programme are under some form of financial aid.

 

When can I apply for financial aid?

You will be required to indicate the need for financial assistance in the application form for admission. However, you will be required to submit the requisite documents only if/when you are shortlisted for the interview.

 

What documents do I need to submit for my financial aid assessment?

You will be required to fill a separate financial aid form and furnish the following documents:

  1. Last 3 years Income Tax Returns for your parents/earning members of the family

  2. Bank Account Statement for the last 12 months of all earning members of the family

  3. Details of the family’s Financial Assets (movable and immovable property, investments, etc)

  4. Company Income Tax Returns and Bank Statements (for Business families)

  5. Form 26AS

  6. Loan Statement (If any)

 

My parent/guardian has two or more bank accounts. Will I be required to upload statements for all bank accounts?

Yes, you will be required to upload the statements of all bank account by converting them into PDF files of sizes under 2mb. Ensure that the resolution of the PDF is 200dpi. Alternatively, you can also attach a zip folder containing all the statements.

 

I am an International Student and we do not file Income Tax Returns in my country. What am I required to submit?

If you are an international student, you will be required to present any/all document(s) that you file with the government of your country that establishes the gross income and tax paid by individuals in your family / by the company owned and run by your family.

 

My parents are not comfortable with sharing their financial details, will I still be eligible for financial aid?

The information that is required to be shared regarding your family’s personal financial details is strictly confidential. If you do not complete the financial aid form with the requisite documents, your need for financial aid will not be assessed.

 

Can I send the financial documents through email?

No, you can only submit the financial documents through the financial aid form, which will be enabled once you are shortlisted for the interview round.

 

Can we personally come to the admissions office with the requisite documents?

No, you can only submit the financial documents on the portal through the financial aid form link, which will be enabled once you are shortlisted for interview. We do not accept hard copies of the documents.

 

Will I have to apply for financial aid each year of my Under Graduate Programme?

The percentage of financial aid granted to you is applicable for the entire duration of your undergraduate programme at Ashoka University

 

Is my financial aid award applicable for all four years of my UG?

Your financial aid will apply to the fourth year as well provided you apply and register for the diploma programme offered by the university as the Plus-One year also called the Ashoka Scholars Programme.

 

What if my parent/guardian is not required to file an ITR?

In such cases (for eg. if the gross annual income of the individual is less than Rs. 2,50,000 per annum/agricultural income), if the earning member is salaried, you will be required to furnish a certificate from the employer that establishes the gross income of that member. If the earning member is self-employed/professional, you will be required to give an affidavit on a stamp paper, stating the gross annual income and the source(s) of income.

All students admitted to Ashoka have access to a number of student loans options that are independent of the University aid package. These loans are made available in collaboration with banks and other financial institutions that offer low-interest rates and do not require the student or the student’s family to provide collateral.
