Ph.D. Cornell UniversityAndrew Alan’s work looks at the haunting of cities and landscapes in the wake of economic and environmental catastrophe. He received his PhD in 2010 from Cornell University, and is the author of Ghosts of the New City (2014, U Hawaii Press) and Mekong Dreaming (2020, Duke University Press), as well as many research articles in journals such as Cultural Anthropology, American Anthropologist, Anthropological Quarterly, among many others. He has done ethnographic research in Thailand, especially in the Mekong region, since 2000, and is fluent in Thai and Lao.
