Miriam Ittyerah

Miriam Ittyerah obtained her PhD from the University of Delhi in the subject of interrelations between the sensory modalities of touch and vision. In her postdoctoral work as a Commonwealth Academic Staff Fellow at the University of Oxford, movement imagery was demonstrated in the total absence of vision. She was a Fulbright senior scholar at the Pierce Lab, Yale University. She has worked in the subject of handedness in Neuro-psychology and demonstrated hand brain relationships of tactile recognition of objects and proprioception for the first time in the total absence of vision. She had visiting positions at the Natural History Museum, Paris and the Institute of Cognitive and Communicative Neurosciences, Shoranur, Kerala. She was a faculty of Delhi University as a Professor of Psychology and an ICSSR Senior Research Fellow. Her research has been supported by fund granting institutions and she has participated in international and national conferences.

At present, she is a Homi Bhabha Fellow 2024-2026, awarded to work in the lateralisation of low birthweight children.
