Sagar Shrivastava serves as a Visiting Assistant Professor in the Department of Mathematics. He earned his Ph.D. in Pure Mathematics from the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR) in Mumbai and holds an integrated master’s degree in mathematics from the National Institute of Science Education and Research (NISER) in Bhubaneshwar. Sagar is deeply committed to science communication and actively participates in initiatives aimed at promoting science and mathematics through various events.
Beyond his focus on mathematics, he has a strong interest in coding, origami, and amateur astronomy. His primary research area encompasses the representation theory of Lie groups and Lie algebras. During his doctoral studies, he collaborated with his supervisor to provide alternative proofs for the branching rules, which pertain to the restrictions of representations for classical Lie groups. Additionally, he is interested in algebraic combinatorics, number theory, and mathematical exposition.
