Born into a fishermen’s family, Pooja Mahaldar is a 20-year-old Economics Honours student at Delhi University. Currently a KARM Fellow and a Youth Advisor at Yuwaah UNICEF, she’s a first-generation learner and the first woman from her village to pursue graduation. She is deeply passionate about advocating for and working towards women’s empowerment. She’s been a Millennium Fellow and worked on an educational project focused on mobilising women. Apart from this, she finds expression in multiple interests, especially poetry, which has become a formative part of her identity. She aspires to work in the field of developmental economics, keeping women at the centre through evidence-based social intervention and evaluation.
