What are the key components of the Young India Fellowship?

The YIF is designed to provide a well-rounded, holistic learning experience. Its core elements include Multidisciplinary and Interdisciplinary Courses across diverse fields, Critical Inquiry and Expression (CIE) to hone analytical skills, and an Immersive Experiential Learning Module (ELM) for real-world projects.

What credential will I receive after completion of the Fellowship?

Upon successful completion of the Young India Fellowship, you will be awarded a Post-Graduate Diploma in Interdisciplinary Studies from Ashoka University.

Who is eligible to apply for the Young India Fellowship?

Candidates with a recognised undergraduate degree in any discipline (or equivalent) are eligible to apply, making it a truly multidisciplinary programme. Final-year undergraduate students are also welcome. Work experience is an advantage but not mandatory.

Rai S. is an advocacy professional, facilitator, and researcher. With over five years of experience across gender, public health, education, employment, and crisis support, their work centres around the lived realities of queer, trans, and persons with disabilities. They have mobilized trans and gender-diverse persons with psychosocial disabilities, co-led a national fellowship, conducted trainings, and are contributing to research on suicidality among TGD persons in India. They aspire to build rights-based, community-led frameworks that transform mental health, law, and care in India. In their free time, they can be found roaming around the streets of Delhi, petting cats.
