BA, English Literature and Psychology, Lady Shri Ram College for WomenSaman holds an undergraduate degree in English Literature and Psychology from Lady Shri Ram College for Women. This experience has enabled her to approach the world with a flexible and empathetic mindset, valuing dialogue and open conversations. During her undergraduate years, she interned as a writer and editor with organisations such as DU Express and ComMutiny-The Youth Collective. Her work has been featured on platforms like High On Films and the Commonwealth Human Ecology Council, and her research papers have been published in college journals and an international film journal.
Saman is passionate about reading books, films, and television series, often combining these interests in research papers. Her academic endeavours include exploring unconventional ideas, such as analysing “Gossip Girl” through the lens of detective fiction or interpreting the film “October” as an exercise in Romantic poetry.
Rooted in her own social position as a Muslim woman, she is deeply inspired by the power of education in reconstructing individual and community-bound mobility. She has also worked with NGOs, supporting disadvantaged children from violence-affected areas in Delhi. Saman is committed to equity and inclusion, particularly in providing practical access and building spaces and mechanisms of belonging.
Although shy and a little socially awkward, she can be coaxed out with the promise of chai and a meaningful conversation.
