Simran is a Kathak dancer with a bachelor’s degree from Miranda House and a master’s degree in Geography. She describes herself as an explorer, who isn’t ready to fit in one box or afraid to get her hands dirty! Founder of the No Poster Party Campaign, she cut paper waste in half during DUSU elections which was recognised by the National Green Tribunal. A finalist in Miss India Chandigarh and Miss Uttarakhand, Simran seamlessly blends activism with cultural interests. Representing India in Russia and China, she’s an NCC Army ambassador, a yoga and bike enthusiast and a dancer who also ideated the opening ceremony for the 2023 AWF Asian Junior and Youth Weightlifting Championship held in India. Through the YIF, she hopes to broaden her understanding by exploring new subjects, honing her dancing skills and learning ways to expand her Dehradun-based NGO which empowers girls and fosters social enterprise for women.
