John Kuriyan is Chancellor’s Professor at the University of California, Berkeley, USA in the departments of Molecular and Cell Biology (MCB) and Chemistry. He is also a Faculty Scientist in the Lawrence Berkeley National Labs, a HHMI investigator, and Fellow of the US National Academy of Sciences. Kuriyan did his PhD at MIT and a brief postdoctoral fellowship at Harvard before becoming an Assistant Professor at Rockefeller University. His laboratory studies the structure and mechanism of enzymes and other proteins that transduce cellular signals and replicate DNA, which has led to a fundamental understanding of signaling pathways in many cancers.
