The Department of Chemistry at Ashoka University offers full-time graduate program leading to Ph.D. degree in Chemical Sciences. Prospective students are encouraged to be integrated into the world class research and liberal learning culture of the Ashoka University by joining a research group, supervised by one of our academic staff, in one of the following broad areas of Chemical Sciences
The monthly stipend paid to all Ph.D. students selected as TAs funded by Ashoka University will be Rs. 35,000/- per month. The Ph.D. Scholars are eligible for Senior Research Fellowship (SRF) upon completing their candidacy. The monthly stipend for an SRF is Rs 40,000/- per month. A contingency grant of Rs. 20,000/- per annum will be made available to each Ph.D. student.
Students funded externally through fellowships from UGC/CSIR/DST-INSPIRE, University waives the semester fees for those students (Rs. 12500/-).
Ashoka University offers financial assistance to all Ph.D. scholars for presenting their research ideas/findings in reputed international conferences. This facility can be availed once by each Ph.D. student during their studentship. The maximum amount of aid is Rs. 2,00,000/-.
Prospective students from any basic/natural or applied sciences discipline including Chemistry, Physics, Biology, and/or Chemical Engineering with an MSc./ MPhil./ MTech./ MEngg./ BTech degree with a minimum of 55 percentage or equivalent grade is eligible to apply for the Ph.D. program at Ashoka University.
Only complete applications submitted via the online Ph.D. application portal before the deadline is considered. Applicants are expected to provide the following documents as part of their application
The selection to the Ph.D. program in the Department of Chemistry is primarily based on
Qualification in the listed national level examinations such as CSIR-UGC-NET/ GATE/ DST-INSPIRE Fellows (Preferable).
Performance in the written test (not applicable for those qualified NET/ GATE/ DST-INSPIRE etc.) and/or personal interview.
The selection process has two stages
Stage-1: Completed applications are reviewed by the faculty panel and short-listed for the written test and/or personal interview.
Stage-2: Interview will be scheduled in JuneĀ (tentative dates for the interview will be updated soon).
Once the evaluation is completed, the Coordinator (Chemical Sciences Graduate Program) will forward the list of candidates selected in order of merit (and those waitlisted, if any) to the Ph.D. program to the Dean (Research) for final approval.
The final approved list will be displayed on the university website, and the letters of admission (and assistantships, if applicable) will be dispatched by the Office of the Dean (Research), with a copy to the coordinator (Chemical Sciences Ph.D. Program).
The entire admissions process (including the dispatch of letters of admission) is to be completed by July. The academic session for Ph.D. students will begin on 1st August 2021.
All correspondence related to Ph.D. admissions will be routed only through the following email address:Ā phd.chemistry@ashoka.edu.in
