Research Faculty Fellow, TSB-Centre (CGMP)

Ph.D. Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research (JNCASR), Bangalore

Sanjeev Kumar is a Research Faculty Fellow at Trivedi School of Biosciences (TSB), Ashoka University. He works in the area of Biochemistry and Biomolecular mass spectrometry. His research interest lies in unravelling novel post-translational modifications in proteins and bioactive peptides that are central to cellular homeostasis and disease pathophysiology. His broad interests are bioanalytical chemistry, mechanistic enzymology and protein structure function.

He did his PhD from Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research (JNCASR), Bangalore where he worked on diverse aspects of enzyme structure-function. In his postdoctoral work at the National Centre for Biological Sciences (NCBS) with Prof. P. Balaram, he employed mass spectrometry to discover novel post-translational modifications (PTMs), characterise proteins and peptides from marine cone snails and unravelled novel aspects of gas-phase chemistry.

Sanjeev loves talking to students and fellow colleagues on diverse topics of science and beyond. He is a sports enthusiast and enjoys cricket, badminton and table tennis.
