Semester at Ashoka

Welcome to Ashoka University’s Visiting Student Programme (VSP)—your gateway to experiencing Ashoka’s distinctive academic offerings. This program invites students from international institutions to spend either a semester or a full academic year immersed in our vibrant community.

Eligibility
In order to apply for study abroad at Ashoka, a student must fulfil the following criteria:

  • Must be enrolled as a full-time student at a partner institution of Ashoka University or any other institution abroad
  • The home university must accept Ashoka course transfer credits towards the student’s degree
  • Completed a minimum of 1 year of university-level study (by the time s/he starts at Ashoka)
  • A cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above on a 4.0 scale, or its equivalent

How to Apply?

Nominated Exchange Students

  • Home institution nominates students by filling the nomination form shared by the Office of Global Education
  • Ashoka’s Office of Global Education will send a direct email to nominated students with application instructions

Self-Funded Students

  • Students from non-partner institutions must provide a letter of approval from their home institution

  • Application Documents

    Students can apply through the Ashoka online application portal by filling in personal information and submitting the following documents:

    • Updated CV/Resume
    • Academic transcript from you home institution
      • Official transcript should include the Name of your programme of study, course or major, list of all completed courses to date, Grade Point Average (GPA) or equivalent
    • Statement of purpose
      • Describe your motivation to apply for an academic year/a semester at Ashoka University, (max. 500 words)
    • 1 Letter of Recommendation (LoR) from a faculty with whom student has taken a course
    • Passport copy
    • Passport size photo
    • Students from non-partner institutions must provide a NoC from their home institution

  • Important Timelines

    Nomination deadlines

    • Fall (Monsoon) Semester or full academic year: 1st March
    • Spring Semester: 1st September

    Application deadlines

    • Fall (Monsoon) Semester or full academic year: 1st June
    • Spring Semester: 15 November

    Note: Application review and decisions are on a rolling basis & fee payment within 10 days of receiving invoice

    • Fall semester – Late August to mid December

  • Academics

    Fall & Spring Semester course load:

    • 4 courses (4 credits each) equivalent to 30 ECTS.
    • Each 4-credit course entails 40 contact hours.
    • 1 optional (2 credits) co-curricular course in performing arts/visual arts/languages.

  • Costs & Living Expenses

    Nominated Exchange Students

    • Tuition: Paid to the home institution.
    • Hostel: ₹1,10,000
    • Meals: ₹64,000
    • Administrative Fees: ₹80,000
    • International Student Fee: ₹46,000
    • Total: ₹3,00,000

    Self-Funded Students

    • Tuition: ₹5,37000
    • Hostel: ₹1,10,000
    • Meals: ₹64,000
    • Administrative Fees: ₹80,000
    • International Student Fee: ₹46,000
    • Total:₹ 8,37000

  • Visa and Health Insurance

    A visa is required for international students. Upon acceptance, we will provide a visa support letter. Health insurance coverage for India is mandatory and is also required for visa purposes.
