Ashoka University announces the winners of the 2023 History Prizes

The three prizes named in memory of eminent scholars of Indian history, which have been endowed by Permanent Black and a donor who wishes to remain unnamed, are awarded to the best students in Ancient and Early Medieval Indian History, Medieval and Early Modern Indian History, and Modern Indian History. The Dharmanand Kosambi Memorial Book Prize was instituted in 2020 and funded partially by a bequest from Kosambi’s granddaughter, historian Meera Kosambi. The Simon Digby and Sarvepalli Gopal Memorial Prizes were introduced in 2022. All three prizes carry a reward of Rs.25,000/- each.

This year, the Dharmanand Kosambi Memorial Book Prize has been won by Damini Jain; the Simon Digby Memorial Book Prize by Jatin Abhir; and the Sarvepalli Gopal Memorial Book Prize by Rohan Chopra.
