Analysis is one of the broad subdivisions of Mathematics. The course on Real Analysis introduces the student to the ideas and methods of this area. A firm grasp of these is necessary for further studies in areas like Topology, Complex Analysis, Harmonic Analysis, Functionl Analysis, Differential Equations, Probability etc.
The keywords for this course are converegence and continuity. Some of the basic ideas learnt in the course on Calculus are made more rigorous here. We understand the notion of limits of sequences and series of numbers and of functions.
