Ashoka University’s undergraduate course curriculum is taught across three semesters: Spring, Summer and Monsoon (Fall). Courses are broadly divided into three categories – Foundation Courses (core curriculum), Major & Minor Courses and Co-Curricular Courses.

Foundation courses are offered in all semesters and do not have prerequisites. Offerings in other categories differ in each semester. Some higher level major/minor courses may have prerequisites.

1. Fair division problem: Proportional, uniform gains/losses and equal surplus/equal losses. Applications: mergers and acquisitions, bankruptcy problems and task scheduling problems. Axioms: merge-proof, split-proof, resource monotonicity, population monotonicity, envy-freeness and strategy-proofness.
2. Topics in welfare economics: Cardinal models of interpersonal comparisons in the context of division problems. Welfarism and three methods: Utilitarian, Egalitarian (or Egalitarian*) and Nash's method for maximizing social welfare. Applications: u-equal sacrifice method of taxation, work-leisure allocation between two agents when the planner is utilitarian or egalitarian.
3. Cooperative game theory and bargaining theory: Shapley value and the Core and some results on their axiomatic properties. We will then discuss Nash's bargaining model and introduce the utilitarian, egalitarian, Nash's and the Kalai-Smorodinsky solution to the problem. Theorems from classic papers like Nash(1950) and Kalai(1977).
