Ashoka University’s undergraduate course curriculum is taught across three semesters: Spring, Summer and Monsoon (Fall). Courses are broadly divided into three categories – Foundation Courses (core curriculum), Major & Minor Courses and Co-Curricular Courses.

In this course, we will discuss the basic and important concepts in Mechanism Design. We will cover the formulations of Mechanism Design setting, and specific settings of Auction Theory and Matching Theory.
We will have in-depth discussions about real life applications where this theory have been used. We will focus on three applications: (1) Spectrum Auctions, in which the government auctions the electromagnetic spectrum (bandwidth) to the highest bidding cellular companies, (2) Sponsored Search Auctions, in which companies like Google auctions the advertisement spots to firms for each search query of the consumer, (3) Kidney Exchange problem in which Kidney donor-receiver pairs are matched while satisfying the compatibility restrictions.
