Empirical Macroeconomics

Code: ECO-6202/ ECO-4203-1

Faculty: Anshumaan Tuteja

This course is designed to introduce key methodologies used in empirical macroeconomics and apply them to examine policy-oriented research questions about monetary and fiscal policy. We will begin with a brief review of foundational topics such as univariate time series models, seemingly unrelated regressions and simultaneous equations. The core topics of the course include spectral analysis (business cycles), multivariate time series models, identification of structural shocks, and state space models. Students will learn to implement these methods through coding exercises in MATLAB.
