Ashoka University’s undergraduate course curriculum is taught across three semesters: Spring, Summer and Monsoon (Fall). Courses are broadly divided into three categories – Foundation Courses (core curriculum), Major & Minor Courses and Co-Curricular Courses.

Health economics is an active field of microeconomics with a large and growing literature and is an important aspect of public policy. The purpose of the course is to expose students to more advanced topics and aspects of recent research in health economics. It provides a deeper examination of selected issues on production function of human capital, life-course approach to health, relationship between health and economic development, epidemiological transition/disease environment & demographic change, behavioural micro-foundations of health, socio-political institutions & health, peculiarities of health care market and health insurance. For each topic within the broad areas, we will survey the key papers and discuss selected recent studies at the research frontier of these topics. The course further aims to equip students to master the contemporary econometric techniques and research designs used in causal inference. We will read, discuss, and critically evaluate key research papers in health economics.
