How are vaccines and monoclonal antibodies generated to serve millions of people? How do we engineer microbes to produce effective antibiotics in larger quantities without killing the cells themselves? This course introduces the participants to concepts in biotechnology and bioprocess engineering. We will discuss how microbes are engineered to produce biological products, and how these products are manufactured at large scales. The course will conclude with few applications of microbial technology.
