Towards Understanding China

This course of twenty-one lectures surveys China’s politics, worldview and strategic culture in history and its practice in today’s world. Beginning with an examination of what is China and of the Chinese polity, state and society through time, it considers the internal political dynamic in China that drives its engagement with the world in history and today. Thereafter it considers the effects on China, Asia and India of a risen and reformed China, and China’s possible trajectory in the future.
