Online Creative Writing Workshop (June 8 – June 11, 2020)

CWC invites applications for its Summer School on Creative Writing. This 4-day workshop will be conducted online and will focus on writing short stories, and is open to aspiring writers with a Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in any discipline. The workshop will aim towards revising creative material as well imparting some pivotal formal components of short story writing to the participants. The selected candidates will work closely with CWC tutors on their stories through several online sessions, writing prompts, and other interactive activities. Special emphasis will be given to peer-reviewed critiquing sessions with the aim of fine-tuning stories and exposing the creative output to an audience. An indicative list of the different aspects of creative writing that this Summer School aims to address includes:
1. Exclusive One-on-one Sessions with the Instructors
2. Peer-Review sessions with instructors as well as participants
3.Discussions and Activities on the crucial aspects of short-story writing
4.Thinking Formally about Short Stories
5.Building a community of writers for Post-workshop Critique/Feedback

Online Research Writing Workshop (June 15 – June 18, 2020)
To be Conducted by: Aakshi Magazine, Senjuti Chakraborti, Souradeep Roy
CWC invites applications for its Summer School on Research Writing. This will be a 4-day writing workshop focusing on developing and revising postgraduate dissertations. All research scholars across India are welcome to apply. Preference will be given to MA, MPhil and PhD scholars in their early stages (year one and two). The selected candidates will work closely with CWC tutors on their specific writing samples through pre-recorded lectures, virtual peer group activities, and one-on-one sessions. The Summer School will address different aspects of research writing. An indicative list is as follows:
1.Developing a Literature Review
2.Building an Argument
3.Chapterization
4.Plagiarism and Citation
5.Revision and Editing Strategies

Deadline- May 15, 2020The application should include:
1. A ‘Statement of Intent’: Please answer the following questions in your statement in not more than 150 words for each:
-Why do you want to attend a writing workshop at the current stage of your career?
-Mention three issues you face while writing an academic paper.
-What do you expect to gain at the end of the workshop?
2.One page CV
3.A detailed research proposal or a chapter from your dissertation that you want to work on during the workshop (3000 – 5000 words)
