This talk is being organised as a guest lecture in the course Introduction to Newswriting and Reporting by Prof. Maya Mirchandani.

Speaker's Bio: Smita Sharma is a senior  award winning Independent multimedia Journalist. She is a Visiting Faculty at the Kautilya School of Public Policy in Hyderabad. She currently focuses on her own youtube channel and collaborates with independent digital platforms including The Red Mike and Newslaundry. 
In more than 23 years of her  journalism career she has been the Foreign Policy Incharge , Contributing Editor and Anchor with newsrooms including DD News,  Network 18, India Today TV, TV9 Bharatvarsh and India Ahead. She was the Deputy Editor for one of India’s oldest dailies The Tribune. Her articles have been published in Deccan Herald, TOI Plus, The Hindu, Hindustan Times, Huffington Post, Quint ,Dainik Bhaskar among others. She contributes to international news outlets including BBC, Al Jazeera, DW News, TRT World, VOA India. She has reported extensively in English and Hindi on wide ranging issues including foreign policy, natural disasters, terror strikes and conflicts, elections, politics and social developments. 
She is an IVLP fellow to the US, John Doherty Fellow to Australia and an alumni of the Asia Pacific Centre for Security Studies (DKI-APCSS) in Hawaii.  She contributed chapters to books on Reporting on Foreign Policy and Challenges of Digital Journalism.
