About the Artist:
Aušra KiudulaitÄ— is one of Lithuania's most internationally recognised illustrators, an artist, author and visual storyteller whose picture books have crossed into nearly 30 languages and onto award shortlists across three continents. Her work has earned honours from the American Library Association, IBBY and the Bologna Children's Book Fair, placing her among a small circle of Baltic illustrators with sustained global reach.
Trained at the Painting Department of the Vilnius Academy of Arts, she has spent the past decade creating picture books for children, leading creative workshops, and delivering masterclasses for art professionals across Europe, Asia and the Americas.
She works actively as a visual literacy advocate and early reading promoter, developing an original lecture series on how meaning shifts when text and image are separated, altered or combined. Delivered to teachers, librarians, early childhood education specialists and art students, her seminars take a practice-based approach to storytelling, composition and the relationship between words and pictures. Her goal is to promote both literature and visual literacy, working closely with words and images together to strengthen how children and adults read, see and understand stories. She is an active participant in international exhibitions, both as part of group shows and through her own solo exhibitions, alongside her ongoing work in publishing and education.
