Panel Discussion

The Brazilian Election: Past, Present, Future

On 25 October, Brazilians choose their next president in what looks to be a tightly contested run-off election between the incumbent, Lula, and challenger, Flávio Bolsonaro. As the largest state in Latin America by any measure and a founding member of the BRICS, Brazil plays an important role on the global stage. The panelists will place the election outcome in a broader perspective, covering the past, present, and future of Latin American politics, zoom in on the Brazilian election, and consider what the outcome may mean for Brazil's foreign relations and regional and global politics.
