Abstract: Data is a crucial component of all forms of modeling, from emissions based on activity data to health impacts using concentration profiles. This information supports both short-term pollution alert systems through forecasting and long-term management strategies through clean air policies. In a data-sparse environment, several assumptions are made to build a reliable modeling framework that supports this public and policy discourse. Analytical process starts with the collation of available information and operationalizing inventories for building spatial and temporal trends. In this presentation, I will provide an overview of the resources available for conducting emissions and pollution modeling and discuss how the methods were applied in India under the Air Pollution Knowledge Assessments (APnA) city program. About the speaker:Dr. Sarath Guttikunda, is the Founder/Director of UrbanEmissions.Info in India, is an adjunct professor at Indian Institute of Technology (Delhi). He conducts research in an independent capacity to support science, policy, and public dialogue on air quality, in Asia, Africa, and Latin America, for which he received the International Award by the American Geophysical Union in 2022. He received his Bachelors in Chemical Engineering from IIT-Kharagpur in 1997 and Doctorate from University of Iowa (USA) in 2002.
