Arunkumar & Ramniklal Mehta Scholarship (ARRA)

Rosy Blue Foundation and Ashoka University are partnering to offer the Arunkumar & Ramniklal Mehta (ARRA) merit-cum-means scholarship for exceptional undergraduate students. This scholarship is only applicable for students who have been admitted in the undergraduate programme for the current academic year.
Rosy Blue Foundation will provide scholarships for two incoming, first-year, full-time undergraduate students for 3 years or 4 years depending on the duration of their degree programme at Ashoka University.

Eligibility

Below are the academic and non-academic criteria for eligibility to apply to the ARRA Scholarship:

Academic Criteria

To avail this scholarship, the student should have any one of the following academic cut-offs based on their Class XII Board Examination:

  • CBSE/ISC/State Board (Indian): >/=98%
  • IB: 41/42 (not including marks for Theory of Knowledge)
  • Cambridge: A*A*A

 

Non Academic Criteria

  • The annual household income of the applicant should be below INR 35 lacs (pre tax)
  • Applicant must have an offer of admission from Ashoka and should have applied for financial aid
  • Applicant should be of Indian origin and have completed high school in India
  • Applicant must demonstrate involvement in clubs, sports, community service, or other extracurricular activities
  • Applicant should be between the ages of 17 – 25 years

Application Process

  1. Candidates shortlisted based on the cut-offs mentioned above will receive an invitation to apply for this scholarship.
  2. As a part of the scholarship application, candidates will be required to fill the application on ARRA scholarship platform – https://www.rosybluefoundation.org/scholarship.html.
  3. This application form will be open for 15 days.  
  4. Candidates need to provide 3 recommendation letters from teachers, employers, or mentors. For details see Documents required to apply for the ARRA scholarship section. To ensure the timely submission of these letters additional 7 days will be provided. 
  5. Candidates shortlisted based on the academic and non-academic criteria mentioned above will need to appear for a personal interview with the ARRA scholarship committee.
  6. Successful candidates will receive a 100% waiver on their Tuition Fee and a 100% waiver on the Residence Cost, along with a stipend.

Documents required to apply for the ARRA Scholarship

  1. Recent coloured passport-sized photograph (in JPG/PDF).
  2. Latest Resume of applicant – covering the personal, academic, research and professional, volunteer work etc. details (in PDF only).
  3. Statement of Purpose (SOP) – an essay of maximum 1,000 words in English/Hindi/Gujarati covering the following (indicative not exhaustive) (in PDF only)
    • Academic qualifications, awards and honors
    • Reason for choosing the course
    • Long-term career goals and aspiration
    • Overcoming hardships, if any
    • Demonstration of leadership
    • How will the scholarship help achieve life goals
    • If given an opportunity, how will you contribute to people, planet, prosperity, peace, and partnerships
  4. Three Recommendation letters – written by teachers/employers/mentors on
    • academic – skill, ability and future potential
    • Personality – character, abilities and non-academic qualities
    • Reasons for recommending the scholarship
    • Candidates can download the format from the “Document Checklist” section of the ARRA website and send it to the recommender.
    • Letters should be sent directly by the recommender to the ARRA scholarship team via email (preferred) at scholarship@rosybluefoundation.org or post.
  5. Proofs of Achievements – Certificates or documents of award, accolades received in extracurricular activities, research projects or any other activities (maximum 10) – (in PDF/JPG only)
  6. Final transcript/mark sheet of Grade 12 board (in PDF only)
  7. Family Income Proofs – As evidenced in last financial year (ending March 31, 2024) for all earning members (parents, siblings or legal guardians), at least one to be submitted (in PDF only)
    • Income Certificate issued by appropriate Government Authority such as Area SDM or Tehsildar or BDO for FY 2023-24.
      Or
    • Income Tax Returns (ITR) for last year along with a copy of detailed Income Computation.
      Or
    • If salaried employees, Form 16 copy/salary slip issued by Employer for FY 2023-24
  8. Identity Proof- Voter ID/Passport/Driving license/birth certificate/PAN – anyone (in PDF only)
  9. Disability Certificate, if applicable – copy of certificate issued by medical boards constituted at a State or district levels/ Unique Disability Identity cards (in PDF)
  10. The Admission Slip/letter by which the applicant has been admitted by the University/ Educational Institution including course fee structure (in PDF only)
  11. Copy of latest fee receipts issued by the University/Institutes – including Tuition Fee, Library, Hostel, mess etc. (in PDF only)
  12. Bonafide Certificate issued by the institution on letterhead duly signed by the Principal/Administrator of the Institute stating that –
    • The candidate will not/has not been granted scholarship under any scheme of other private organization or religious or spiritual organization or Government authorities.
    • Has not taken admission through Management/Convenor Quota or any other special Quota.
    • Candidates can download the format from the “Document Checklist” section on the ARRA scholarship website and send it to the Ashoka University’s Registrar’s office (registrar@ashoka.edu.in). 
    • Upload the signed version (in PDF only) on ARRA scholarship portal.
  13. Note: In case of insufficient income proofs, applicant may be asked for the following:
    • If parent(s) have business income, copy of certificate from CA/audited balance sheet and profit & loss account for FY 2022-23 & FY 2023-24.
    • List of immovable properties and investments owned by the family along with approx. market value as on 31.3.2024. 

 

Candidates must submit all the desired documents through the online application portal ARRA scholarship platform within the stipulated time. Non-submission of any document can result in disqualification of the application.

Expected criteria for continuation of scholarship

ARRA scholarship is a merit cum means scholarship, recipients will need to demonstrate the following to continue to receive the scholarship for subsequent years

  • Maintain a minimum CGPA of 3.75 or be in the top 15% of the batch.
  • Should be an active member of at least one university club or be a part of special campaigns, drives, etc., or both, in and outside of university depending on their areas of interest and commitment.
  • Mandatorily participate in the presentation to the Rosy Blue Foundation where they will share their end of the year update, milestones achieved, and suggestions for Rosy Blue Foundation scholarship programme

  • Am I required to fill the need-based Financial Aid Form ?

Yes, only students who apply for the need based financial aid will be shortlisted to apply for the ARRA scholarship provided they meet the eligibility criteria mentioned above.

  • Can I apply for this scholarship after joining Ashoka?

 Yes, it is applicable for all 1st year students who have enrolled in the current academic year.

  • Is the ARRA scholarship applicable for all four years at Ashoka University?

Yes, the ARRA scholarship will be applicable for all four years at Ashoka University provided the scholar maintains 3.75 CGPA or is in the top 15% of the scorers of the batch and other criteria mentioned under the section of “Expected criteria for continuation of scholarship”.

  • What happens if an ARRA Scholar’s academic performance drops from 3.75 CGPA or the top 15% of the scorers of the batch?

The ARRA scholarship component will be withdrawn if the scholar’s academic performance drops from the 3.75 CGPA or top 15% of the highest scorers of the batch in a particular year. However, the need-based financial aid component awarded to the student at the time of joining will continue.

  • Students who have received Science merit cum means scholarship can also apply for this scholarship?

Students who are a recipient of the Sciences merit cum means scholarship provided by Ashoka University are not eligible to be considered for ARRA scholarship.
