#OhThePlacesYouWillGo – From Fear of Missing Out to Fearlessly Trying It All

'Ashoka has been a constant guide as I've explored my passions and interests, and it continues to shape that journey.'

I found myself pinching myself on day one, and in all honesty, I still do. I stared at the red bricks with a strange mix of feelings: excitement, anxiety, and the question of how I was going to make the most of a liberal arts education. I wanted to explore biology beyond the pages of a textbook, make the dance floor my canvas, play volleyball, and God knows what else.

For me, having multiple interests came with a lot of confusion and the fear of not achieving anything meaningful. As it turned out, I had nothing to worry about. Ashoka has been a constant guide as I’ve explored my passions and interests, and it continues to shape that journey. The sheer access to networks, information, and opportunities here transformed my confusion into confidence and my questions into answers. I have slowly seen my dreams become reality.

Never had I thought that I would be choreographing and dancing my heart out in an actual dance studio with other dancers. Abhinaya created a space where I can do that and so much more. From only knowing Afro to getting a taste of jazz, hip-hop, and contemporary dance, with Kathak still left to try, it’s been the journey of a lifetime.

Learning the principles of biological experiments from renowned professors was once a wish, but has now become my everyday life. I step into my second year with so much to look forward to. My first year was filled with moments of realising that there are so many things to do at Ashoka. Here’s to chasing curiosity, collecting stories, and saying ‘yes’ to whatever comes next.
