Hannah Meher’s research interests include Postcolonial and Cultural Studies, transnational cultural practices, diasporic literature and the intersections of gender, caste and class. Hannah aims to explore how representations of Indian ‘national identity’ and ‘cultural identity’ translate across transnational borders and multiple mediums (fiction, TV series, social media etc). Her undergraduate research project, “Navigating Nationalism and the Paradigms of Cultural Identity: Birds without Wings and The Bastard of Istanbul,” explored the experiences of multiple diasporic generations marked by the trauma of ethno-religious violence and displacement.
