Aakshi Magazine is a film scholar and critic. She studied History at Delhi University and Jawaharlal Nehru University. She has a PhD in Film Studies from the University of St Andrews. Her doctoral research is on the Hindi film song of the 1950s.
Her writing and film criticism have been published in The Indian Express, The Hindu, Economic and Political Weekly, Outlook, Popula among others. She is the co-editor of the book ReFocus: The films of Zoya Akhtar published by Edinburgh University Press (2022). Her research interests include the Hindi film song sequence, 1950s Hindi cinema, film history and feminist production studies.
