Aashish is a PhD scholar in the Philosophy department at Ashoka University. He holds a Master’s in Philosophy from the University of Delhi, where his thesis addressed the notion of primitive logical possibility in recent work on modal structuralism in the philosophy of mathematics. His work has also engaged Dignāga’s apoha theory, considering how its exclusion-based semantics might resolve the problem of universals without positing them, a question he also pursues through nominalism in mathematics. Other areas of interest concern the sources of normativity across logic, language, and ethics, and how first and third-person perspectives bear on epistemic justification. He is currently exploring work in the formal metaphilosophy of Indian philosophical traditions, specifically the use of formal methods from outside classical logic to reconstruct the structure of philosophical argument within the tradition. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in computer science from IIT Bombay, and has worked as a quantitative researcher in the past.
