Ananya Dixit

YIF Class of 2021

B.A. Economics
Flame University

Ananya holds a major in Economics with a minor in Public Policy. She is interested in economics, politics, international relations, and how these discourses are instrumental in shaping the world around us. In college, her interest proliferated into the relatively new, interdisciplinary field of Public Policy. She volunteered for an NGO where she assisted in organising workshops on menstrual hygiene management for women from rural Madhya Pradesh. Subsequently, she worked as an intern for the Government of Andhra Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh in the field of education and skill development. These experiences gave her the opportunity to understand problems at the grassroots level and the intricacies of the political system and bureaucracy. These short stints have only reinforced and deepened her desire to work in the public policy sector in India.

As a relatively young discipline, public policy borrows heavily from political science, law, and economics. Much like the discipline itself, Ananya has come to realise that solutions to problems that the world is grappling with today require integrative solutions that cut across boundaries of disciplines. At the Young India Fellowship, she hopes to develop a holistic worldview and broaden her perspective to create a real and lasting impact on society.
