Anshu Kaushik Thakur

YIF Class of 2021

B.E. Mechanical Engineering
Army Institute of Technology, Pune

As a college student, Anshu has been an active member of the college magazine board, part of the spiritual club, and secretary of the Rotaract Club. She initiated taking on student volunteers and collaboratively cleaned the college campus and the areas surrounding it for over 8 months with over 80 volunteers. Being the Student Body Head for her branch, she managed over 240 students.

As a part of her Yoga training, she learnt the depth and variety of Indian values and cultures and gained a new perspective towards India, and was influenced deeply to work towards its growth and development. Her experience as a Yatri on the Jagriti Yatra was eye-opening towards the broad-ranging concerns in the Indian society from women’s and children’s rights to education and respectable life, to government corruption and unaccountability.

In her spare time, she works with a local Rotaract Club to serve the community by offering mentorship to school students in minimally funded government schools and working with incarcerated men and women and unemployed youth to help provide free vocational training for employment.
