Apala is a feminist, brimming with love and rage. They are a student of political theory, a mercurial debater, and are widely known for their ability to strike friendships with every dog they encounter. For character-building purposes, they spend their free time watching horror movies or listening to Taylor Swift. They have an archive’s worth of half-read PDFs on their laptop, that they love to share and mull over. They’ve spent much of their undergrad stuck in the philosophy section of the library, editing academic papers, or drinking overpriced tea.
Having experienced first-hand the value and magic of critical pedagogy, they hope to become a professor someday, teaching the next generation of students to think and transgress.
They hope to use the Young India Fellowship and the spirit it stands for, as an antidote to parochialism, for the rest of their life.
